Our Low Level Laser/Photobiomodulation therapy for orofacial pain utilizes 810–980 nm therapeutic diode laser light to promote tissue healing, reduce pain, and enhance recovery of the nerves and muscles involved in jaw motor and sensory function. Photobiomodulation (PBM): This laser therapy is recommended for patients who have experienced significant trauma or injury to the jaw and orofacial region resulting in nerve pain, altered sensation, or numbness. PBM delivers specific wavelengths of light energy that stimulate cellular repair, encourage nerve regeneration, and help restore normal nerve signaling pathways. By supporting the healing process, this treatment can improve sensation and reduce neuropathic discomfort over time. Orofacial Muscle Low Level Laser Therapy: This treatment targets the muscles of the jaw, face, and surrounding structures to decrease inflammation, improve circulation, and promote muscle relaxation and healing. It is commonly used in conjunction with our orofacial exercise program and custom orthotic appliance therapy to optimize muscle function and relieve tension associated with temporomandibular disorders (TMD). Additionally, it is frequently performed following PRP/PRF (Platelet-Rich Plasma/Platelet-Rich Fibrin) trigger point injections to enhance the body's natural healing response, accelerate recovery, and support regeneration of the treated muscles and soft tissues. Together, these non-invasive laser therapies are designed to reduce pain, improve function, and promote long-term healing of both the nerves and muscles of the orofacial region.
